Good afternoon WES families,

This is Mike Cronin with some updates for the coming week. There is a lot, so you can review this as an email or from the building’s webpage or through social media links. If you have not picked up your child’s Chromebook, it is critical that you do so in the next day. You will need time to be sure that you are able to log into the unit and your child’s Google account.

On Friday the 11th all K-8 students, hybrid and remote will be meeting virtually with their teacher between 12:00 and 2:20 pm as the official first day of school. Your child’s teacher will be emailing the link to your child’s school email address.

During the week of the 14th, we will be hosting hybrid model grade level cohorts in the building for a full day on the following schedule:
-Kidergarten and first grade on Monday the 14th
-Second and third grade on Tuesday the 15th
-Fourth, fifth and sixth grade on Thursday the 17th
-Seventh and eight grade on Friday the 18th

Students should arrive between no earlier than 7:20 am by car and bus and will be dismissed for car pick up at 2:30 pm and bus at 3:00 pm. Please review the WES 20/21 Plan in the Back to School button on the building’s webpage for arrival and departure protocols.

Our hybrid and remote learning schedules kick off on Monday the 21st. Our 6th through 8th grade remote learning team is busy developing a progressive, remote learning program. Your child's remote teachers will be Mr. Aaron Girogosian and Mrs. Emily Robertson this year. Mr. Girgosian will be teaching Humanities (English Language Arts and Social Studies) and Mrs. Robertson will be teaching Mathematics. Mrs. Robertson and Mr. Girgosian will be co-teaching Science Inquiry. Unified Art classes will be taught through the Unified Arts team at SAU 36. Please note that you will hear from Mr. Girigosian and Mrs. Robertson on Thursday, September 10th with more information on the remote learning approach. More information on K-5 remote will follow.

Finally, a reminder to complete your annual forms or new student registrations online in the next three days. We also ask that every family complete the free and reduced lunch application as important federal grant monies are tied to that program. Seventh and eighth grade athletes should be sure that Family ID has been completed before the first practice.

As always, practicing hand washing and social distancing and, finding that perfectly fit mask will make our return smoother.
