Dear Parents and Families,
For the past several years, staff and students at Whitefield Elementary School have discussed and practiced hazard drills related to school safety. You may be aware of the laws that require schools to provide a minimum amount of exposure and training to different types of drills- RSA 189:64 and NFPA 101.
Whitefield Elementary School consistently meets these minimum requirements and strives to go above and beyond to provide safety, education and readiness to our school community in the event an emergency occurs. White Mountains Regional School District has adopted the ALICE model to prepare and practice our response to potential hazards. Officer Lemoine is a certified ALICE instructor and has been trained to address these sensitive topics with the students and staff here at WES.
Over the next few weeks, Officer Lemoine will be leading age-appropriate safety discussions and activities with students and staff at our school. During this time, our emergency response procedures will be reviewed but at no time will the safety or well-being of the school community be compromised. In the late spring our school community will be participating in a full campus evacuation drill that will also involve our local first responders. We will provide more details as the date of the drill approaches.
