Middle School Athletic Schedule Week Ending 9-17-22
Good Evening WES Families,
As you are aware the Town of Whitefield has been under a Boil Water Order due to a positive E Coli test since Friday afternoon. Over the past few days WES and the district have taken steps to prepare to keep school open and safe for students and staff while the situation is resolved.
Bottled water has been distributed to each student and staff member. Two 17oz bottles per person for three days have been placed in each instructional and office space in the building.
Our Lead Custodian will be turning off the feed to each sink and fountain so that no one accidentally ingests the water. Toilets will operate as usual.
Hand sanitizing supplies have been placed at each sink. Handi-Wipes have been provided to each classroom and an additional supply of baby wipes have been placed in the Nurse's Office should the need arise.
Food Service is prepared to provide prepackaged breakfast items as well as sandwiches for lunch. Milk will of course be available.
The custodial crew will be hitting high touch points with sanitizing spray throughout the day.
A number of staff are bringing Igloo coolers of water and ice from outside the district.
Students are welcome to bring their own personal supply of water, hand sanitizer etc. if you would like.
Once the order is lifted we will flush the building's water system and sanitize any containers.
So far I have not received any requests for sick days or subs from the staff so we are looking at a full complement in the morning.
Guidance from Lisa Miller School Nurse via the CDC suggests that if your child experiences any signs or symptoms of an E. coli infection, please keep them home. Symptoms of illness from an E.coli infection can vary from person to person, but often include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (sometimes bloody) and vomiting. If there is a fever, it is usually not very high (less than 101 degrees.) Most people get better within 5-7 days. Your child may return to school when they have been free of symptoms (diarrhea, vomiting and fever) for 24 hours. Please reach out to your healthcare provider if you or your child experiences severe illness.
I want to thank the SAU administrative staff, district buildings and grounds and custodial staff, district food service staff as well as WES staff who stepped up this weekend to put the pieces together so that we can open safely on Monday morning. I look forward to emailing you in a few days with news that we are back to normal operations.

To ensure your child is signed up for the ASAP program for the first day of school your completed forms will need be turned in by Friday, September 2, 2022.
